Archery equipment
The obvious piece of equipment you will need for archery is a bow. There are many styles to choose from but the most popular are the self bows, the recurve bow, and the ever stylish longbow, all of which are suited to beginners. The crossbow, which is not recommended for the beginner, is far more powerful than the other three and is often used for hunting. If you’re just interested in shooting at targets then any of the first three will be fine.
The other obvious piece of equipment you’ll need is an arrow. An arrow consists of a shaft with an arrowhead attached at the front, and fletchings and a nock at the back. The shaft is traditionally made of wood, but new technology has developed arrows out of fiberglass, aluminum, carbon/alloy composite, and carbon fiber.
The more dedicated archers may want to think about investing in some protective equipment. Such as a bracer (or arm guard) to protect the inside of the bow arm. Some archers choose to wear a chestguard. This prevents the archers body or clothing obstructing the bowstring.
